Best: October 7, 2015

TODAY’S WORD FOR WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 7, 2015.

BEST

DEFINITION:

Superlative or good; greater; one’s utmost.
SCRIPTURE:

But earnestly desire the greater gifts, and I will show you a still more excellent way. I Corinthians 12:31.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; but fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; so your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:5-10.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Often, when we are presented with choices of multiple deserts on a buffet table, the one that we thought looked the best was not the best.

We all have to make many choices in life. None is more important than choosing the best path in life to follow.

The verses in Proverbs 3:5-10 give us a godly compass for our life. It does not make any difference who you are, what you do, where you live, or what your vocation is, this concise trustworthy compass will help you find God’s best for your life.

The first point on this spiritual compass is trusting in God. This is the most important key to finding God’s best for your life. You must have faith in the Lord to control every area of your life. Remember He knows all things, He is all powerful, and He loves you perfectly. He will arrange every circumstance in your life to work out for your best if you trust Him with all your heart.

The second point of this spiritual compass gives us three requirements to receive God’s best in our life.

First, you are to rely on God only and not on your own understanding. There are many things we do not understand with our limited knowledge but relying on God with His profound wisdom will keep us on the right path.

Second, you must respect Him as your God by standing in awe before Him, worship Him, and obey Him. We are not to be wise in our own eyes and think we know better than God. Wisdom starts with fearing God and He is the only one who has the authority to govern every area of your life.

Third, God promises to make our paths straight. He will guide us through every step we take and will make our life easier. He will bring health to our body. We need to trust His clear guidance to lead us to live a healthy and wholesome way of life.

Fourth, we are to honor God by giving back to Him some of the wealth He blesses us with, including time, talent and treasures. We should give God our best. First fruits, as in Proverbs3:9 above, refers to the best portion of the harvest. God deserves our best.

LEARNING:

Our memory verse for this week is found in Psalm 23:6.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
PRAYER:

Help me to honor You this day as my Lord. Help me to put my complete trust in You and obey You in every area of my life. Help me to live a Godly life so I can enjoy life at its best.
