Mind: July 22, 2014
TODAYS WORD FOR TUESDAY JULY 22, 2014.
MIND
DEFINITION:
The part of a human that reasons, thinks, feels, wills, perceives and judges. Intellect or understanding.
SCRIPTURE:
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. Mark 12:30.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
God invites us to use our minds. In Isaiah 1:18 it is written, “Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord.” Christ touches every area of our lives. When He touches our minds we are transformed by the renewing of our minds.
We are told in the scripture not to be like a senseless horse or a mule, “which have no understanding” (Psalm 32:9). Mules and horses must be led by bits and bridles. They have no understanding. God has given us a mind with which to reason and to gain understanding. It is with our mind that we understand who God is. God wants us to love Him not just with our minds but with all that we are.
When Jesus was asked what was the greatest commandment He replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37
Love is an emotion and comes from the heart. Christianity is falling in love with Christ. Have you ever fallen in love without emotion?
It is with the heart that we believe on our Lord Jesus Christ, not our mind. Many have head knowledge of Jesus and they say they know Him but without one’s heart accepting Jesus it is meaningless.
We are to love the Lord with all our heart, our mind, our soul, our mind and our strength which means we are to love the Lord with our entire being. There are three principal things that make up our being and flow from our heart. The power of feeling and desire is our Soul. Energy and power is our strength. Understanding and wisdom is our mind.
Our love for the Lord proceeds from our heart and manifests without through our soul, might and mind.
LEARNING:
Our memory verse for this week is found in Romans 8:28.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
PRAYER:
May my love for You embrace my whole being. Teach me, O Lord, true love.
